When the royal family in Doha asked for an Arabian-themed village, we knew the design had to feel authentic down to the smallest arch. The finished piece spans roughly 12 ft by 8 ft, with a central souk flanked by a traditional coffee house and a miniature mosque. Every column is carved from kiln-dried pine, then hand-painted with non-toxic, child-safe pigments. Gold-leaf accents were applied in the workshop and later hand-polished on site to catch the desert light.
Because the village sits on a marble patio, we added stainless-steel anchoring brackets that blend into the stone. One afternoon during installation, the royal gardener stopped by and, without a word, handed us a small brass lantern he’d found in storage. We placed it on the souk’s central table. The next morning, the lantern was gone—only to reappear on the coffee house’s counter, now holding a tiny clay teapot. We never found out who moved it, but the village has felt even more alive ever since.
Our East Coast clients love a good farm-town vibe, especially when the first snow of the season is on the horizon. The New Jersey Farmstead covers 10 ft by 7 ft and includes a barn, a general store, a schoolhouse, and a farmhouse. Each building is reinforced with extra cross-beams so it can handle the weight of a snow load typical for the Northeast—about 30 lb per square foot.

The schoolhouse’s chalkboard is a thin sheet of reclaimed wood, sanded smooth and sealed with a low-VOC finish. Last fall, a local HOA called to ask if the set could stay up through December. We said yes, then added a set of removable shutters painted in the same barn-red as the buildings. By New Year’s Day, the village looked like a proper winter farmstead, complete with a tiny wreath on the general store’s door.
In Berlin we created a compact educational village that fits inside a 20 ft by 15 ft classroom. The layout features a post office, a bank, a bakery, and a fire station, each scaled for children aged 3 to 8. All surfaces are rounded, and every corner is padded with a soft silicone strip that is designed with reference to ASTM F1148 requirements.
The bakery’s oven is a hollow wooden block that can hold a small basket of pretend pastries. The fire station’s truck slides out on low-friction runners, letting kids practice “emergency drills” without any sharp edges. We used commercial-grade finishes that are easy to wipe clean after a day of flour-filled play.
One teacher told us the post office’s stamp pad is the first thing her students reach for every morning. Another said the bank’s coin sorter has taught more kids about counting than any worksheet in the cabinet.
Installing a modern city village inside a premium shopping center demanded a balance between visual impact and safety. The Dubai Mall set spans 14 ft by 10 ft and includes a hospital, a supermarket, a police station, and a café, all scaled for children aged 2 to 8.

The supermarket’s sliding doors glide smoothly on stainless tracks, and the café’s tiny espresso machine even has a working steam whistle that lets out a soft hiss when the lever is pulled.
During the grand opening, a toddler in a red shirt kept running between the hospital and the police station, pretending to be both a doctor and a detective. Security guards ended up joining the game, taking turns “calling for backup” over a toy walkie-talkie. By closing time, the set was covered in tiny handprints and a single glittery shoe print that still hasn’t washed off.
A Surrey garden became the setting for a storybook English cottage village, complete with thatched-style roofs, a village green, and working garden features. The set measures 16 ft by 12 ft and includes a cottage, a teashop, a blacksmith’s forge, and a tiny allotment with removable vegetable patches.
We used cedar shingles for the roofs, pre-weathered to a soft gray that blends into the garden’s mature hedges. The teashop’s awning is made from Sunbrella fabric, so it won’t rot in the damp English air. The allotment’s soil trays are filled with organic compost, and the tiny scarecrow’s overalls are stitched from leftover fabric scraps.
One afternoon, a fox trotted right through the village green, pausing only to sniff at the scarecrow’s boot. The next morning, the allotment’s lettuce leaves were arranged in a perfect spiral—no one admitted to it, but we like to think the village’s newest resident approved.
