Kids Corners for Gyms, Swim Schools and Clubs

Two different jobs, and they are not the same room

Operators say kids corner meaning one of two things, and the design splits there. A childcare room holds children while a parent trains elsewhere in the building. A waiting area holds siblings for the length of a swim lesson, with the parent in the room and the stay short.

  • Childcare room: several play points, so a group spreads out rather than queues
  • Childcare room: a mixed age band, so heights are specified per zone
  • Waiting area: compact, visible from the viewing seats, quick to settle into
  • Waiting area: nothing a staff member must set up or put away
  • Both: no enclosed box a child can be shut inside

Other buyer types are on the commercial page.

Pool decks and damp air — where wood should not sit

Being straight about this saves you money later. Our pieces are built for indoor and covered settings, and they belong in dry rooms. A pool hall is warm, humid and chlorinated, and the deck itself is wet.

  • Suitable: a dry viewing lounge, a lobby, a corridor off the pool hall, a club room
  • Suitable: a childcare room on the gym side of the building, normally ventilated
  • Ask us first: a viewing gallery inside the pool hall, where humid air reaches it
  • Not suitable: the pool deck, a changing room, a shower lobby, a splash zone
  • Not suitable: anywhere hosed down or mopped with standing water

Send a photograph of the spot and say whether that room shares air with the pool hall. If it does, we will suggest another location rather than a finish that will not hold.

Supervision is yours; the layout supports line of sight

Staffing ratios, sign-in and who watches whom are your operating decisions and your regulator's, not ours. What the furniture can do is stop making supervision harder: low units in the middle, taller pieces against walls, counters turned so a child using them faces the adults.

In a swim school the line runs from the viewing seats to the corner, so a parent watching a lesson keeps the sibling in view without standing up. In a gym childcare room it runs from the door and the staff position. Try both in the playground designer.

Durability with constant turnover

A club corner turns over all day, with new children every hour meeting the set for the first time. Counter edges, doors, hinges and the first step take the wear, so they are made as replaceable parts and damage is a repair rather than a closure. Everything is handcrafted in our own workshop from FSC and PEFC certified European mill stock, with no Russian or Chinese materials, and designed with reference to ASTM F1487 and CPSC Publication 325.

Material declarations for EPA TSCA Title VI and CARB Phase 2 are available, and audited supplier evidence downloads from the certified supply chain page.

Cleaning between sessions

Clubs clean on a timetable: a wipe between sessions, a full pass at close. Flat tops, reachable corners and lift-off doors keep that pass short, and a short pass is the one your team keeps doing on a busy Saturday. Finishes are water-based and safety data sheets go to your contractor before they touch the new surfaces.

  • Tell us your products and cleaning frequency at design stage
  • Say whether staff or an outside contractor cleans the room
  • Flag anything that must be moved to clean the floor beneath it

Installing around opening hours

A club floor cannot be a work site while members are in the building, so installation happens before opening, after close or on a maintenance day. Delivery is included at one all-inclusive price, and on-site installation by our own crew is available as an option. Typical production plus delivery runs 8 to 16 weeks, so pick the quiet week and count back.

  • Room plan with measurements and ceiling height
  • Photos from the door, the staff position and the viewing seats
  • Whether the room shares air with a pool hall
  • Delivery route: door widths, stairs, lift, out-of-hours access

Send those through the quote form. A play kitchen suits a compact waiting corner; a playhouse suits a childcare room.

Questions buyers ask us

Can we install a wooden play corner inside our pool viewing area?

Yes, provided the viewing area is dry and separated from the pool hall atmosphere. We build strictly for dry indoor spaces. Warm, humid air and chlorinated moisture break down wood and finishes over time. If your viewing area shares air with the pool deck, send us photos of the space. We will review the airflow and either confirm the placement or help you select a drier location, such as an entrance lobby or a club lounge.

How does the design differ between a gym childcare room and a waiting area?

A gym childcare room holds children during workouts, requiring multiple play stations so groups spread out across different heights while staff supervise. A swim school waiting area serves siblings staying for short lesson intervals alongside their parents. For waiting areas, we design compact layouts with clear sightlines from viewing seating, open fronts so no child is hidden, and setups that do not require staff to reset components between visits.

How do staff clean the play equipment between busy member sessions?

We design our units with flat tops, fully reachable corners, and lift-off doors to keep quick wipedowns manageable between sessions. Our finishes are water-based and formulated for regular wipe-downs. Tell us your cleaning routine, the products you use, and whether your own team or an outside contractor cleans the room. We provide safety data sheets ahead of delivery so your cleaners know precisely how to maintain the surfaces without damaging them.

Can installation take place outside our club operating hours?

Yes. An active club floor cannot double as a job site while members and children use the facility. We coordinate installation during your scheduled off-hours, whether that is before morning opening, after evening closing, or during designated facility maintenance days. We deliver directly to your club at one all-inclusive price, bringing the components into position and assembling the corner so the space is ready for your next session.

What does a gym kids club need from a play structure?

A club childcare room runs in short, repeated sessions with one attendant watching several children at once, so sightlines beat enclosure. We build free-standing shop and cafe fronts that spread children across separate play points instead of one entrance, which keeps the room calmer and lets an attendant supervise from a single position. Nothing is fixed to the building, so the room can be returned to studio use. Surfaces are specified so they can be wiped down between sessions, and a worn building is replaced on its own.
