Commercial Play Areas, Built to Order

A room that works for a living

A commercial play area has to survive a working day that never really ends. Kids Wood Store designs and builds made-to-order wooden play environments for businesses across the US — indoor playhouses, play towns, play kitchens and the furniture that goes with them. Every set is drawn to your floor plan and handcrafted in our own workshop, then delivered to your door at one all-inclusive price, with optional installation by our crew. Nothing here is a catalogue kit resized to fit.

What commercial duty changes

A commercial grade playhouse is the same craft as a home piece, specified differently. Traffic is constant rather than occasional, so joinery is heavier and fixings are made to be inspected and re-tightened. Sightlines are planned around where adults stand: openings, window heights and roof lines are drawn so someone at the counter can see in. Finishes are water-based and chosen to be wiped down daily. Layouts are drawn around exits, sprinkler heads and the route a stroller takes. Designed with reference to ASTM F1487 and CPSC Publication 325.

Paperwork travels with the job: FSC® and PEFC certified European mill stock, chain-of-custody documents available for the timber, material declarations for EPA TSCA Title VI and CARB Phase 2, safety data sheets for the finishes, and no Russian or Chinese materials. The document set is on /compliance.

Find the page for your business

Each buyer type below has its own page, because the constraints are different in each one.

  • Play cafés — /commercial/play-cafes: the structure the room is sold around, open enough to see into from every table.
  • Preschools and daycares — /commercial/preschools-daycares: classroom pieces drawn around your licensor's floor-area and supervision rules.
  • Pediatric and dental waiting rooms — /commercial/pediatric-dental-waiting-rooms: a small footprint that holds a child while a parent fills in forms.

Before you send a brief

Delivery and install day — door widths, freight elevator, after-hours access — is set out on /delivery-and-installation. What drives the cost of a commercial set, and what you must decide before we can quote, is on /pricing. To walk through real builds first, the 360° /virtualshowroom is open.

Typical production plus delivery runs 8 to 16 weeks. That is a working range, not a promise — tell us your opening date early and we will plan the stages backwards from it.

Other settings we build for

The same made-to-order approach fits a number of other rooms. If your setting is on this list, start here and we will work from your floor plan.

  • Malls, retail and dealerships — very high traffic, unsupervised use, sightlines from the sales floor: /commercial/retail-malls-dealerships
  • Vacation rentals, campgrounds and glamping — a covered guest space that earns a listing photograph: /commercial/vacation-rentals-campgrounds
  • Event venues and photo studios — the set is a backdrop as much as a toy: /commercial/event-venues-photo-studios
  • Gyms, swim schools and clubs — childcare while a parent trains, or a waiting area for siblings: /commercial/gyms-clubs-swim-schools
  • Employer onsite childcare and family rooms — a room that reads as part of the workplace: /commercial/corporate-childcare

Questions buyers ask us

How does delivery and installation work for businesses in the US?

We deliver directly to your building anywhere in the contiguous United States at one all-inclusive price, with all delivery paperwork handled by us. When on-site installation is chosen, our own crew travels to your location to unpack, assemble, and secure the structures in place. Before dispatch, we review your site logistics, including door clearances, loading dock availability, freight elevator access, and after-hours building rules, so installation does not disrupt your daily business operations.

How far in advance should we plan our commercial play area order?

Because every set is handcrafted to order in our workshop rather than pulled from a warehouse, schedule depends on the scale of your layout, current workshop queue, and freight transit to your city. We recommend sharing your targeted opening date when you first reach out. We then schedule drafting, production, shipping, and installation milestones in reverse from that target date so your room is completed before your doors open to the public.

Can you build around existing obstacles like pillars and low ceilings?

Yes. Every commercial structure is drawn from your architectural drawings or measured floor plan rather than adapted from fixed catalogue modules. We adjust wall heights, roof angles, entry points, and access routes around support pillars, electrical panels, sprinkler heads, and HVAC drops. We also align sightlines with your reception desks, counters, or dining tables so your staff maintains a clear view of children inside the structures at all times.
